Dean Sullivan, CPP (certified professional photographer)
Dean has been a professional photographer for over 30 years. He photographed his first wedding in the late 70s then began shooting commercial photography in 1982 as head photographer and darkroom technician for a local magazine. In 1988, Dean started his own newspaper, The Bay News. He was publisher and owner, as well as photojournalist, for multiple newspapers countywide, until he retired from the newspaper business in 2005. Since then he has concentrated on his photography and graphic design business.
“Wedding photography is my passion. No two weddings are the same. I get paid to go to a party every weekend, but capturing a family’s most important day is also a huge honor and responsibility that I take very seriously.”
Passion is what separates Dean from the many other photographers in the area. With over 30 years of experience, he offers his clients a unique experience: “I will stand up in the back of a moving car, get entire wedding parties to jump into a pool, or traipse through the snow formally dressed. I’ll take couples into bars, cars or trains. Everybody has a digital camera, this is what makes me different!”
Dean is an award-winning photographer who has been published in countless publications, his images have been used in everything from business cards to billboards. Some of his clients include the state of California’s cooperating association, the National Estuary Program, Pallet to Palate, Central Coast Wedding Professionals, multiple chambers of commerce, Hot Chillys, Cal Poly, the Clark Center and many local businesses.
