Joe Johnson
Joe and his wife Joan own Really Right Stuff, makers of unmatched camera support equipment used by the worlds preeminent nature photographers like George Lepp, John Shaw, Art Wolfe, Franz Lanting, Peter Lik, Adam Jones, Moose Peterson, Marc Muench, Joe & Maryann McDonald, Dewitt Jones and many, many others. Author/Digital Photographer Scott Kelby said, I cant recommend the BH-40 enough it is, truly, the ballhead of the gods
.
Joe was a Bestfoods executive in the Philippines, Taiwan (where he met his wife, Joan) and China for 13 years. An avid photographer from his youth, Joe took a workshop at Olympic National Park from George Lepp during a home leave in 1993. George introduced Really Right Stuff products to Joe who became an immediate loyal customer. Unilever acquired Bestfoods in 2000, and after 18 months Joe decided it was time to move on.
About this same time when Joe was decompressing with his favorite photography hobby on the Internet, he visited the website for Really Right Stuff and came across pictures of RRS founders Bryan and Kathy Geyer. Joe was impressed at that moment to call Bryan and ask him if he was interested in selling the company. Bryan was indeed interested in retiring and within six months the deal was closed and Joan and Joe moved their family to Los Osos, CA to take over Really Right Stuff in July 2002.
Joe and Joan quickly embraced internet online ordering and introduced many new products. Company growth was robust and in September 2005, the office was moved to a much bigger facility at 205 Higuera Street in San Luis Obispo, CA.
Joe has designed some of the industrys most lauded camera support equipment, including the RRS Omni Pivot Package multi-row panorama devise which he will personally demonstrate at the Morro Photo Expo.
