Digital Photo Walk (Los Osos Oaks)

with Jerry Kirkhart

Saturday, 10/24, 8:30-11am.

On this walk, you will encounter some of the most beautiful Coastal Live Oak trees in the world. Enjoy photographing very large trees described as the Bee Tree, Snake Tree, and Elephant tree to name a few. You will be treated to some of the most beautiful lace lichen you have seen in your life, plus many other photo opportunities. We will also search for such fauna as slender salamanders, red-breasted sapsuckers, and others. Most people overlook or drive by this treasure.

A medium wide angle lens would be recommended and perhaps a medium telephoto for birds. An 18mm-200mm would be ideal. Point and shoot cameras will do well in this area. Tripods may be of use or at least VR or IS lenses. Meet at the Los Osos Oaks Preserve 1/4 mile east from the South Bay Boulevard and Los Osos Valley Road stoplight. (Turn left if traveling on South Bay Blvd). Look for the Los Osos Preserve sign.

For reasons of safety, inclement weather may cause postponement or cancellation of outdoor events.
